Greetings from Joseph Jaffe!

In May 2005, my first book, Life After the 30-Second Spot, was published by Wiley. LA30 deals with the closing of one chapter (where linear, one-way, traditional communication ruled) and the opening of a new, glorious chapter – the era of new marketing.

In the Fall of 2007, my second book will be released, titled “Join the Conversation: How to Engage Marketing-Weary Consumers With The Power of Community, Dialogue and Partnership.” In some respects, JTC will carry on from where LA30 left off. In others, it will be light years ahead; completely different…focusing on the power of dialogue, community and partnership.

The Idea: I want JTC to walk its talk and demonstrate the power of conversation, open-source, consumer generated content and the like. If you think about it, I have my work cut out for me…considering this is a book after all i.e. a hard-covered linear, finite and static piece of communication: the opposite of a fluid and organic conversation.

Right? Wrong! This is an opportunity to show that even a book can be as engaging and collaborative as two people sharing a cup of coffee together or two avatars practicing a bit of synchronized flying.

  • It begins with letting go of control
  • It continues with trusting my community
  • It ends with… no it doesn’t; it never ends…

The Mission: You have two opportunities to contribute:

  • Cover Design - Produce a cover design that's better than Wiley's. Book specs: 6" x 9 1/4"
  • Chapter - Contribute your own content to a chapter of the book. To obtain password - email: jtc [at] crayonville [dot] com (subject: "password")

Note: You must enter your name in the "author" field in order to save the contributions you make to any page on this wiki. How else will we know who contributed?

Let's get started!
